The president commended the sacrifices of security personnel, noting that alongside the army and other security institutions, they have consistently acted as a shield against threats to Lebanon’s safety and territorial integrity. He highlighted the Directorate’s achievements, including securing travelers’ safety, regulating operations at airports, seaports and border crossings, and organizing the return of Syrian refugees.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Director General of Lebanon’s General Security Directorate, General Hassan Choucair, emphasized the Directorate’s commitment to its mission. “We approached the refugee issue from a humanitarian and rights-based perspective and continue to work day and night to safeguard Lebanon’s security and stability,” he said.
Choucair praised the trust placed in the directorate by President Aoun and state institutions. “The General Security Directorate is a living institution that evolves with time, opens up to all citizens without discrimination, and operates with transparency and accountability,” he affirmed, renewing the commitment of all its personnel to continue serving Lebanon with dedication.
Marking the occasion, Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad al-Hajjar stressed the importance of strengthening the Directorate’s role.
