Lebanon has reason to celebrate as powerlifter Etienne Chaer captured the silver medal at the Classic Powerlifting Championship during the 2025 World Games in China. The event brought together over 6,000 athletes from 66 countries, showcasing some of the world’s top talent in non-Olympic sports.
By achieving this remarkable feat, Chaer not only added a prestigious milestone to his personal record but also gave Lebanon rare international visibility in a sporting competition of this scale.
As the sole representative of his country at these Games, he expressed his pride and emotion after his performance:
"Among 6,000 athletes from 66 countries, I am proud to be the only one representing Lebanon at the World Games. This is what I aim for: to shine a light on Lebanon’s name internationally," he said.
This silver medal is a true crowning achievement for Chaer, the result of many years of training and determination. It also resonates as a message of hope and perseverance for Lebanese youth, who are searching for role models and success on the global stage.
