
The Lebanese Army has denied recent media claims that its Air Force breached Syrian airspace to monitor military activity along the border.
Some news sources had suggested that the patrols were in response to threats from armed Syrian groups intending to enter Lebanon and carry out security operations.
In an official statement, the Army Command described these reports as “completely false,” emphasizing that its units are strictly monitoring the situation along the border and taking all necessary measures to maintain control and security. The statement also highlighted that communication and coordination with Syrian authorities are ongoing to track any developments.
The Lebanese Army has taken seriously the threats circulated on social media, attributed to one Syrian tribe which threatened to storm Lebanese territory if the Syrian detainees in Roumieh Prison were not released.
The army has raised its alert level at sensitive sites, stepped up patrols and expanded nighttime monitoring along the frontier, according to an official military document circulating online. This is Beirut confirmed its authenticity.
