Israeli Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir toured in southern Lebanon on Wednesday. He met soldiers on the front lines and observed ongoing security operations in the northern sector.
Accompanied by senior commanders, including Northern Command Division 91’s Brigadier General Yuval Goz and Brigade 769’s Colonel, Zamir spoke with both regular and reserve troops, acknowledging the personal commitment required to maintain security in a sensitive region.
“The reason we are here today is that we have managed to change the security reality in the north,” Zamir said. “Since the ceasefire, more than 240 terrorists have been neutralized and approximately 600 airstrikes conducted. Today, we maintain these achievements to protect the towns of the north, and the credit goes to you.”
He added, “Going backward is not an option. We will not allow threats to re-emerge.”
Zamir highlighted the challenges of operating across multiple fronts, noting that the Israeli Army is active not only in Lebanon but also in Gaza, Syria, Yemen and the West Bank, while keeping a close watch on developments in Iran. “We attack and neutralize threats wherever they appear, always with the initiative on our side,” he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Israeli Army approved plans for a Gaza operation. Zamir stressed that the forces are guided by a “new strategic concept,” designed to prevent threats from growing while maintaining operational readiness. He encouraged soldiers to take pride in their work, maintain morale and continuously improve their skills.
“On behalf of the residents here and the Israeli Army, I trust you, your alertness and your readiness,” he said, reflecting both confidence and respect for the troops’ dedication.
