The young Lebanese golfer, at only 16 years old, earns a prestigious podium finish at the American amateur championship, against the world’s elite of her category.
Lebanese golf has found its jewel. Victoria Richani achieved a resounding feat by winning the bronze medal at the US Amateur Golf Championship (ages 15–18), held from July 24 to 26 in Pinehurst, North Carolina. The event, recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard, the American Junior Golf Association, and the World Amateur Golf Ranking, brought together 102 players from 19 nations.
On the mythical American greens, the young champion displayed her composure and touch to climb onto the third step of the podium with a total score of 211 strokes, after three intense rounds over 72 holes. “It was a difficult tournament, but I gave my best until the last putt,” the player said at the end of the competition.
A Strong Signal for Lebanese Golf
This medal confirms the rise of Victoria Richani, who had already knocked on the door of the greats by qualifying the previous week for the final stages of the US Women’s Amateur. Despite an early elimination, she impressed with her level of play and her fighting spirit.
The president of the Federation and the Golf Club of Lebanon, Karim S. Salaam, did not fail to salute this achievement: “Victoria is the dream ambassador for our sport. She proves that Lebanon can shine even in the most selective disciplines. It is a source of immense pride for our country.”
