A massive magnitude 8.8 earthquake struck off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula – the strongest in 73 years. It triggered tsunami alerts across the Pacific, with waves inundating coastal towns.


Japan, Hawaii, China, and even California are on high alert as aftershocks and further waves are feared. Authorities are urging people to stay away from coastlines.
