Already crowned on the previous matchday, Al-Ansar wrapped up its league campaign on a sour note with a 2-1 defeat to Safa. No matter — the Green Club secures a record 15th title, under the spotlight... and the fireworks.

No Fans, but Plenty of Goals

Behind closed doors at Camille Chamoun Stadium, as requested by security authorities, Al-Ansar and Safa faced off one last time in the final round of the Championship. While Safa won 2-1, it was Al-Ansar who climbed the throne, claiming its 15th championship title—a historic record in Lebanese football.

Safa Strikes, but Doesn’t Change History

The Yellow and Blue struck early, opening the scoring in the 3rd minute through Islam Al-Batran, then doubling the lead on the hour mark with a goal from Ali Kossas (59'). Nader Matar pulled one back for Al-Ansar in the 72nd minute, but it was too late to alter the result—or the standings. With 48 points compared to Safa’s 46, Al-Ansar had already sealed the deal.

Maatouk, Top Scorer

In the remote duel for the top scorer title, it was Hassan Maatouk who came out on top. The iconic Al-Ansar striker led the scoring charts with 17 goals, ahead of Palestinian forward Al-Batran (15 goals).

A Highly Political Trophy Ceremony

After the match, captain and goalkeeper Nazih Assaad lifted the trophy, handed over by Lebanese Football Federation president Hachem Haidar, in the presence of club president and MP Nabil Badr. The scene had all the hallmarks of an institutional coronation for the Tarik el-Jdideh club.

The Celebration Was Elsewhere

With the stands empty, the crowd made up for it a few kilometers away. Bourj Stadium (Beirut Municipal Stadium), the historical stronghold of the Greens, hosted hundreds of supporters for a celebration organized by the club’s management. Flares, chants, and drums echoed into the early morning hours.

La Sagesse Finishes Strong

At Safa Stadium, La Sagesse Beirut ended its season on a positive note with a 3-1 win over Ahed. A brace from Kevin Trad (34’, 37’) and a goal from Bafa Diop (68’) sealed the match, despite Mahmoud Zbib’s goal for Ahed (59’). The Green and White club finishes 5th with 22 points. Ahed remains 3rd with 33 points.

Nejmeh’s Goal Fest Against Tadamon Sour

Same field, different match: Nejmeh capped off its season with a spectacular final act, beating Tadamon Sour 4-1. Trailing at halftime after a goal from Mahmoud Kaakour (43’), Tarek Jebril’s men turned things around with goals from Mohamed Safwan (48’), Ebingo (58’), and a quickfire brace from Fadl Antar (67’, 69’). Nejmeh ends the season 4th with 32 points.

15 titles, a record, and a joyous crowd — even in defeat, Al-Ansar remains Lebanon’s king. This season, the throne was green.
