Official Iranian media outlets, including Iran International, reported the death of Ali Taeb, the personal representative of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at the “Thar Allah Headquarters,” without disclosing the circumstances of his death. This lack of detail sparked numerous questions regarding the conditions surrounding his passing, according to the Israeli newspaper Maariv on Saturday.

The newspaper explained that the “Thar Allah Headquarters” is one of the central units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responsible for internal security. It was reportedly among the targets struck by Israel during the recent confrontation with Tehran.

The report highlighted the influential role of the Taeb family within the Iranian regime, noting that Hussein Taeb, the late official’s brother, headed the IRGC intelligence service until 2022 and was considered one of the most prominent security figures close to Mojtaba Khamenei, the Supreme Leader’s son. Another brother, Mehdi Taeb, also holds a significant position within Iran’s ruling establishment.

The report added that Ali Taeb’s sensitive position as Khamenei’s representative at the “Thar Allah Headquarters” gave him oversight of the ideological guidance provided to forces tasked with confronting domestic unrest. This made him a key figure in the structure of the Iranian security apparatus. Against this backdrop, his sudden death carries important political implications.

According to Iranian sources, Ali Taeb took part in the Iran-Iraq war and played a prominent role in shaping the regime’s ideological framework.
