The Lebanese Army carried out a series of raids on Sunday in Zebdine (Nabatiyeh district), following armed clashes that erupted on June 25 in the Sabra and Shatila camps between rival drug trafficking gangs.
In a statement issued Monday, the army announced the arrest of four individuals: three Lebanese nationals (M.Ch., H.G., and A.K.) and one Palestinian national (A.A.).
One of the suspects, identified as one of the most wanted drug traffickers, opened fire on the patrol during the operation. The soldiers returned fire without causing casualties.
A large quantity of drugs, along with weapons and ammunition, were seized.
The confiscated items were handed over to the competent authorities, and an investigation has been launched to uncover further details.
On June 25, armed clashes broke out between Lebanese and Palestinian drug traffickers, each trying to assert control over the Shatila refugee camp.
The confrontations involved heavy gunfire, including B7 rockets and machine guns, which left two people dead and five wounded and caused significant material damage.
