Israel came under heavy attack early Thursday as “dozens” of ballistic missiles were launched from Iran, triggering loud explosions across the country. One of the missiles directly struck Soroka Hospital in the southern city of Beersheba, according to Israel’s Foreign Ministry.
A hospital spokesperson confirmed “damage to the hospital and extensive damage in various areas,” urging the public to avoid the facility. Soroka is known for treating both civilians and soldiers wounded in Gaza.
In Tel Aviv, sirens sounded twice in the early morning, followed by powerful blasts. Emergency services reported a missile impact near a residential building, though no injuries were initially reported. In Jerusalem, AFP journalists described the explosions around 7:10 AM (0410 GMT) as the most intense since hostilities with Iran began on June 13.
Israeli police confirmed “multiple impacts” in central and southern areas of the country. Missile fragments reportedly fell on at least three residential buildings. The Magen David Adom emergency service dispatched teams to several impacted locations.
