Iran launched a new wave of ballistic missiles against Israel on Sunday evening, setting off air raid sirens in the north, center, and part of the south of the country.

Several impacts were confirmed by the Israeli army in Haifa and in the south of the country, near the town of Kiryat Gat.

“Sirens sounded in several regions of Israel following the identification of missiles launched from Iran toward the State of Israel,” an army statement said, calling on the population to seek shelter.

The army then launched interceptors to counter the Iranian projectiles. In Jerusalem, AFP journalists saw at least a dozen missiles flying through the dark sky before hearing the sound of violent explosions in the distance.

According to Israeli media, around 30 missiles were launched. A dozen exoatmospheric interceptions were observed in the skies over Syria and Lebanon.

In Haifa, Israeli ambulance services reported responding to three sites hit by missiles in Haifa, while several buildings were on fire, including two that were completely destroyed, according to local media.

Initial reports indicate that at least 15 people were injured in the strikes, while authorities say that others remain trapped under the rubble.
