In a high-profile interview with Fox News, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a dramatic escalation in Israel’s campaign against Iran, revealing that Israeli forces had successfully eliminated both the head of Iranian intelligence and his deputy. The move, part of what Netanyahu described as a broader mission to “eliminate two existential threats, nuclear and missile capabilities,” signals an intensification of the ongoing conflict.

Netanyahu declared that Israel is “determined to complete the mission in Iran,” suggesting that the operation could lead to significant political consequences. “Regime change in Iran could be the result of this operation,” he stated, underscoring the strategic and ideological stakes behind Israel’s actions.

While praising US President Donald Trump, Netanyahu said, “We appreciate Trump’s handling of the situation,” particularly highlighting the role of American forces. According to the Israeli leader, US pilots have been intercepting drones launched toward Israel, as part of a coordinated defense effort amid rising regional tensions.

However, Netanyahu declined to comment when asked about reports that Trump had opposed an Israeli plan to assassinate Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Two US officials confirmed to Reuters that Trump had rejected the proposal, a decision that may have prevented a broader regional escalation.

Despite the diplomatic friction, Netanyahu maintained a defiant tone. “We will achieve our goals, and we will win,” he said, reinforcing Israel’s commitment to neutralizing Iranian capabilities and reshaping the strategic landscape in the Middle East.

The Israeli operation marks a critical turning point in the long-standing shadow war between Israel and Iran, with potential repercussions far beyond the immediate battlefield.
