The Israeli army claimed on Saturday to have struck an underground missile launch facility in Khorramabad, western Iran, where surface-to-surface and cruise missiles were being stored.
“This is a significant site that has even appeared in Iranian regime propaganda videos in the past,” said Israeli army spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin, speaking to reporters. He appeared to be referring to footage released earlier this year by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran's ideological military force, showing what was presented as a new underground missile facility.
“It was struck, and the senior officials associated with it were also eliminated,” General Defrin added, noting that dozens of other missile sites had “also been destroyed.”
The army stated that the site housed “storage tunnels for surface-to-surface and cruise missiles, as well as multiple launch platforms.”
Earlier on Saturday, the Israeli military claimed to have killed more than 20 high-ranking commanders of Iran’s security forces, along with nine nuclear scientists, in strikes on Iran since the beginning of the large-scale attack launched on Friday.
