The Israeli army launched a new wave of attacks against Iran on Saturday evening, as tensions between the two adversaries continue to rise.
Early in the evening, local media reported that air defense systems had been activated in the capital, Tehran, as well as in other locations, including Bandar Abbas, Isfahan, Shiraz, Kandeh, Piranshahr, Kermanshah, Khorramabad, Mahabad, and Tabriz.
The attack was launched using drones and loitering munitions to eliminate defenses, while Israeli fighter jets were still flying over Iraq. The skies over the country's major cities were lit up by defensive fire and explosions.
Loud explosions were reported at an Iranian military outpost near Urmia, in northwestern Iran, close to the border with Turkey and Iraqi Kurdistan.
However, these actions, intended to test Iranian defenses, were not followed by strikes carried out by Israeli fighter jets.
These attacks come as the Iranian army prepares to launch a major attack against Israel.
The Israeli Air Force struck several sites earlier on Saturday, targeting air defense systems in the Tehran area and dozens of missile launchers. The objective: to dismantle the military and nuclear capabilities of its sworn enemy.
