Israeli fighter jets have completely destroyed the Tabriz Military Airport in northwestern Iran, in a significant escalation in Israel’s military campaign inside the country, Israeli media reported.
The airstrikes also reportedly targeted a missile factory in the southwestern city of Shiraz, as well as a missile warehouse in Borujerd.
Iranian media confirmed explosions were heard in Kermanshah following the strikes on Tabriz and Shiraz.

The attack on Tabriz came just hours after a coordinated Israeli military operation struck key nuclear and military infrastructure across Iran, killing several senior officials, including Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, and Major General Hossein Salami, head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Both men were central figures in Iran’s military hierarchy.
In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei swiftly moved to fill the leadership vacuum. He appointed Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi as the new Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, replacing Bagheri, and named Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour as the new commander of the IRGC, succeeding Salami.
The appointments were issued by official decree and announced through state media outlet IRNA.
