Israeli soldiers arrested several Hamas members during a nighttime operation in southern Syria, the Israeli army announced Thursday, as reported by Israeli media.
The Hamas members were captured by reservists from the Alexandroni Brigade in the village of Beit Jinn, located about 6 kilometers from the Israeli border, outside the buffer zone controlled by Israel.
“Based on intelligence gathered over the past weeks, soldiers conducted a targeted night operation in Syria and arrested several Hamas terrorists who were attempting to plan multiple attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers [of the Israeli army] in Syria,” the army stated.
The suspects were transferred to Israel for interrogation by Unit 504 of the Israeli military intelligence directorate.
