
Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny toured Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport and the Port of Beirut on Wednesday, accompanied by a high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates. The tour included briefings on the state of the airport and port facilities and discussions on potential areas of technical collaboration.
Speaking at the Port of Beirut, Minister Rasamny highlighted the Lebanese government’s ambitions, “We have many projects and are looking into developing our ports and national capabilities. Lebanon is rich in talent, and what we need now is to rebuild confidence in the country.”
He further praised the UAE’s support over the years, calling it Lebanon’s “second home.” “When our country was going through hardship, our people had to leave. Today, as a new era begins, we are working to bring them back,” Rasamny said.
For his part, H.E. Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting Lebanon. “The Lebanese people are eager to see their country return to its strategic role, and the President of the UAE is keen to help Lebanon achieve its aspirations,” he said.
The visit included representatives from the Government Experience Exchange Office (GEEO), the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the UAE Mission in Beirut and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), underscoring the UAE’s continued engagement in Lebanon’s infrastructure and recovery efforts.
