Although the electoral process in Tripoli was called into question following the municipal and mukhtar elections held last Sunday, it now appears that the issue has been resolved. According to a well-informed source interviewed by This is Beirut, the official final results are expected to be published today, Wednesday, within a few hours.
According to the same source, this delay is due to the multiple vote-counting operations carried out in the region with great transparency in order to ensure reliable results.
It is worth recalling that, following the municipal and mukhtar elections in Tripoli on May 11, several complaints were filed with the Ministry of Interior regarding irregularities.
“We conducted a recount of the ballots in the boxes, and what happened was mainly due to a lack of administrative organization and the small number of judges working within the commissions to ensure accuracy and transparency in the vote-counting process,” the source explained, adding that several judges from Beirut volunteered to fill the gap and assist with the process.
