The young Lebanese prodigies make the country shine in Egypt.
They are young, talented, and now, medalists. Lebanese golf has delivered a new feat on the Arab stage thanks to two rising stars: Jalal Ataya (under 13 years) and Lara Bakhour (under 16 years), who each earned a precious silver medal during the Arab juniors and ladies championship organized in Egypt.
The competition, orchestrated by the Arab Golf Federation in partnership with its Egyptian counterpart on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the creation of the pan-Arab organization, gathered 110 participants from 12 countries. And in the midst of the best prospects of the Arab world, the Lebanese flag flew high twice during the medal ceremonies.
In addition to the two podiums, the young Lebanese golfer Mohammad Safa also stood out by making it into the top 10, a confirmation of the next generation’s talent. The results confirm the soundness of the strategic choices made by the Lebanese Golf Federation, which strongly focuses on youth categories.
The President of the Federation, Karim Salaam, praised the performance of his two medalists, describing their result as “a source of pride for Lebanese sport in general and for golf in particular.” He also wished to congratulate the entire delegation for its seriousness and commitment, notably citing the head of mission Dr. Nizar Zein, the administrative officer Rima Arab, as well as the coaches Bilal Ismail and Ahmad Ataya.
“Seeing our flag raised twice in such a high-level competition is a source of pride and a strong signal for the future of golf in Lebanon,” he declared, also thanking the Arab and Egyptian Federations for a flawless organization that, according to him, “contributed to raising the general level of Arab golf.”
With this promising harvest, Lebanese golf now aims for continental summits.
