Arab Fund Pledges Support to Revive Development Projects in Lebanon

President Joseph Aoun expressed optimism about Lebanon’s future during a meeting this morning at Baabda Palace with Bader Mohammed Al-Saad, Chairman of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. He underscored the country’s determination to rebuild the state on new foundations, with a particular focus on economic and financial reforms.

The President highlighted Lebanon’s commitment to transparency, good governance and facilitating the work of longstanding financial partners, including the Arab Fund, which has supported several development projects in cooperation with the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR).

“This new phase that Lebanon is entering requires the support and solidarity of our Arab brothers,” President Aoun stated. “We welcome any new initiative that contributes to the recovery process, which has already begun through a series of government-led measures and will continue.”

He also expressed appreciation for the renewed interest in Lebanon, noting that the country is gradually regaining the trust of its Arab and international allies. President Aoun paid tribute to Engineer Nabil El-Jisr, Chairman of the CDR, for his efforts throughout his tenure, and acknowledged the strong cooperative ties established with various regional and international development partners.

During the meeting, attended by Engineer El-Jisr, Chairman Al-Saad affirmed that his visit, accompanied by a delegation, marked the resumption of development projects funded by the Arab Fund after years of suspension. He reiterated the Fund’s commitment to honoring existing loan agreements with Lebanon, prioritizing sectors such as education and health.

Al-Saad also noted ongoing collaboration between the Arab Fund and the World Bank and announced that meetings with relevant Lebanese ministers would take place to evaluate needs. He expressed hope that the necessary conditions would be secured to enable swift implementation of the projects.
