An Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle in the southern Lebanese city of Saida early Wednesday, May 7, 2025, killing a member of the Palestinian group Hamas whose death was confirmed by the Islamist movement. The attack is the latest in a series of targeted assassinations attributed to Israel since the ceasefire agreement that took effect on November 27, 2024.

According to local security sources, the drone fired two missiles at a "Rapid"-type vehicle in the Villas neighborhood, near the Palestinian refugee camps of Miyeh Miyeh and Ain al-Hilweh. The front of the car caught fire, killing the driver, who was identified as Khaled Ahmad al-Ahmad, also known as "Farouk," a member of Hamas.

The strike was claimed by Israel, with details provided by the Arabic spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichay Adraee, who stated that Khaled al-Ahmad oversaw Hamas operations in western Lebanon. Adraee added that the victim played a key role in planning and executing attacks against Israel, targeting both soldiers and civilians.

"During the war, Khaled al-Ahmad was involved in sabotage attacks and transporting combat materials to be used against Israel," Adraee highlighted on his X account.
This marks the third targeted killing in Saida since the beginning of the year. The same area was previously struck on August 21, 2024, in a drone attack that killed Khalil al-Maqdah, the brother of Palestinian officer Mounir al-Maqdah.

On February 17, another Israeli drone strike targeted senior Hamas commander Mohammad Chahine at the northern entrance of Saida. A month later, on April 4, a drone hit a residential apartment in the Zahra neighborhood, killing senior al-Qassam Brigades official Hassan Farhat along with his son and daughter.
