The Israeli army declared that it had located and demolished a former Syrian regime military headquarters situated on the summit of Mount Hermon in southern Syria. The operation was conducted over the past week by troops from the recently established HeHarim, or “Mountain Brigade.”
Formed in 2024, the HeHarim Brigade is tasked with securing the Mount Hermon and Mount Dov areas and falls under the command of the 210th “Bashan” Division, replacing the former 810th “Hermon” Brigade.
According to Israeli army Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee, the operation involved paratrooper forces and elite combat engineering units specializing in explosives and ordnance disposal.
During the mission, soldiers uncovered abandoned infrastructure attributed to the deposed Syrian regime, including weapons caches, rocket launchers, mortars, improvised explosive devices, and landmines. The military confirmed that all seized materials were either removed or destroyed on site.
Additionally, the Israeli army said the raid was part of broader operations aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure in southern Syria, which it says pose threats to Israeli communities, particularly those in the Golan Heights region.
