At 16 years old, the Lebanese swimmer is stacking up records and honors in the United States. Her latest achievement: a new national record in the 100m butterfly and a prestigious selection among the American All Stars.
Based in the United States but with her heart beating for Lebanon, young swimmer Lori Awad made a strong impression right from the start of the season. Competing in the prestigious Aggieland meet in College Station, Texas, the representative of Lebanon and the Mont La Salle club shattered the national record for the 100m butterfly in the 16-17 age category, clocking a time of 1:03.33. The previous record (1:04.09), held since 2018 by Hiba Doueihi, is now history.
Promising Times
In other weekend events, Lori Awad confirmed her outstanding form:
• 200m freestyle: 2:10.75
• 100m freestyle: 1:00.66
These solid times place her on a perfect trajectory heading into the Junior World Championships, scheduled this summer in Bucharest.
A Lebanese Swimmer Among the All Stars
And because good news never comes alone, Lori Awad has been selected for the Central US All Stars Team—a first for a Lebanese swimmer. This tournament, bringing together the American elite under the age of 16, will be held this year in Dallas from May 16 to 18, featuring top swimmers from Texas, Illinois, and Indiana.
Eyes on Bucharest
At just 16, Lori Awad continues to impress. With discipline, determination, and talent, she’s carving a path toward the world’s top competitions. Could Lebanon finally have found its future swimming star?
