As the world commemorates 110 years since the Armenian Genocide, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun reaffirmed Lebanon’s unwavering solidarity with the Armenian people and praised the Lebanese-Armenian community as a pillar of national unity and contribution.
In a statement marking the anniversary, Aoun stressed that the occasion is not merely a remembrance of a tragic chapter in history, but also a renewed call for justice, human rights, and dignity. He underscored the importance of confronting all forms of violence, extremism, and exclusion, saying the remembrance serves as a reminder to the world to stand against injustice in all its forms.
He highlighted the long-standing role of the Armenian community in Lebanon’s societal fabric, saying: “Lebanese citizens of Armenian origin have long demonstrated genuine national belonging and constructive engagement across political, economic, cultural, and artistic fields. They have always been an integral part of Lebanon’s diverse and vibrant identity.”
The president concluded his statement with a solemn tribute: “May the victims of the Armenian Genocide, and all those who have suffered under oppression and aggression around the world, rest in peace. May God protect Lebanon and its people from all harm.”
