On Tuesday, a Lebanese Army intelligence patrol in Saida arrested two Palestinian nationals (Kh.A.) and (B.M.) for trafficking and smuggling military weapons across the Lebanese-Syrian border.

The operation resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of weapons and ammunition, which were immediately handed over to the relevant authorities. An investigation was launched to identify possible accomplices and trace the network.

This arrest comes while the Lebanese army is stepping up its efforts to secure the national territory. At the same time, naval and air forces conducted a large-scale military exercise off the port of Tripoli, simulating the interception of a ship suspected of illicit activities.

The operation mobilized elite units, including speedboats and special forces, which carried out a tactical landing operation.

According to an army press release issued on Wednesday, these maneuvers are part of plans to prepare and strengthen the operational capabilities of the Lebanese armed forces, in a regional context marked by multiple security threats.
