The Beirut airport road gets a patriotic facelift ahead of summer.
The road leading to the Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport is shedding its partisan skin. With summer fast approaching, the route now greets travelers with a unified image: the Lebanese flag and a hopeful slogan — “A New Era for Lebanon.”
Gone are the banners and portraits of Hezbollah leaders and Iranian officials that once made some visitors feel like they'd landed in Tehran. Today, the billboards along the highway are awash in red, white and green, the colors of the flag and symbols of a Lebanon trying to reclaim its identity.
While a few lingering portraits of Hezbollah’s former leader, Hassan Nasrallah, remain, they’re dwarfed by Lebanon’s national colors lighting the way forward.
It's a symbolic shift, hinting at a new beginning
