The parliamentary Finance and Budget Committee, chaired by MP Ibrahim Kanaan, has reaffirmed its commitment to “positive cooperation” with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

However, it decided to postpone its decision on increasing Lebanon's contribution to the institution by $423 million. The committee is waiting to consult with Finance Minister Yassin Jaber to assess the financial impact of this increase on the state coffers, as well as the payment terms, taking into account the government's priorities for reform and economic recovery.

The committee also adopted the law approving the $1.7 million increase in Lebanon’s participation in the International Development Fund (IFC).
