UK counter-terrorism police arrested two men on April 1, 2025, in connection with alleged links to Hezbollah, which has been banned in the UK since 2019.

The first man, aged 39, was arrested at an address in northwest London on suspicion of being a member of a proscribed organization, preparing terrorism acts and financing terrorism.

The second man, aged 35, was arrested in west London on suspicion of being a member of the banned group.

The investigation, which focuses on both domestic and overseas activities, is ongoing, though authorities assured there is no imminent public threat.

Commander Dominic Murphy of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command emphasized that the arrests demonstrate the UK’s commitment to taking robust action against terrorist activity, whether it occurs within the UK or abroad.

“Terrorism and terrorists have a global reach and impact, and the activities of terrorist groups overseas can harm communities here in the UK as well as causing devastation to those abroad,” he stated.

The two men were taken to a London police station and have been released on bail until mid-July. Searches were carried out at five addresses in London and Essex, which have now been completed.
