
Mahmoud Abou Zeid sets the 2025 season on fire, breaking two national records during a historic meet at the Camille Chamoun Sports City. A blistering start to the season for the Inter Lebanon Club champion, who is already establishing himself as one of Lebanon’s top figures in athletics.
As part of the preparations for Lebanese athletes ahead of the local and international competitions for the 2025 season, the Inter Lebanon Club, under the auspices of the Lebanese Athletics Federation, organized an exceptional meet at the Camille Chamoun Sports City in Beirut. The event was the stage for an outstanding performance by Mahmoud Abou Zeid, the star athlete of the Inter Lebanon Club, who started the 2025 season at a relentless pace. Not only did he dominate his competitors, but he also shattered two national records: on the 800 m (Under-18 category) with an astonishing time of 1:54.74 (previous record set by Peter Khoury of the Maristes Champville Club in 2016 with 1:55.44) and on the 5,000 m (Under-20 category) in 14:59.10, thus breaking a 30-year-old record set by Charbel Abi Tayeh of the Antonins Club (15:26.10 in 1992).
This meet, a key event in the preparation of athletes for major upcoming competitions, attracted the attention of numerous sports experts. The presence of the Secretary-General of the federation, Wassim al-Hawly, as well as the Treasurer and President of the Judges Committee, Maria Kevorkian, highlighted the importance of the event.
