Alpine Skiing: Chad and Ouaiss in Gold, Hayek and Hobeich at the Top

On the snowy slopes of the Cedars and the Mzaar Ski Resort in Kfardebian, the best Lebanese skiers fought a fierce battle to win this new edition of the Lebanese Alpine Skiing Championship. Andrea al-Hayek and Juan Hobeich shone among the men, while Manon Ouaiss dominated the women’s category, and Manon Chad led the junior girls.

The Lebanese Ski and Biathlon Federation organized the first and second stages of the Lebanese Alpine Skiing Championship, bringing together the nation’s top talents for slalom and giant slalom events.

Hayek and Hobeich, a Duel at the Top in the Men’s Category

In the men’s category, the competition remained tight until the very end. Andrea al-Hayek (Club des Sports Faraya Mzaar) and Juan Hobeich (Faraya Sporting Club) shared the first place with 360 points each after dominating the technical events. Naim Fenianos (Club des Sports Faraya Mzaar) secured third place with 350 points after an impressive performance.

Young Talents Already Stepping Up

In the junior men’s category, Andrea al-Hayek confirmed his dominance by clinching a second title with 440 points. Juan Hobeich followed closely, securing second place with 380 points, while Lucas Max Sakkal (Club des Sports Faraya Mzaar) completed the podium with 290 points.

Ouaiss Unstoppable Among the Women

In the women’s category, Manon Ouaiss (Faraya Sporting Club) won convincingly, totaling 500 points. Behind her, Sara Zeidan (Club des Sports Faraya Mzaar) climbed to second place with 290 points, while Manon Chad (Club des Sports Faraya Mzaar) and Kiana Sakkal (Club des Sports Faraya Mzaar) tied for third place with 440 points each.

Manon Chad Claims Victory in the Junior Girls’ Category

In the junior girls’ category, Manon Chad proved she is one of Lebanese skiing’s brightest prospects by securing the title with 460 points. Kiana Sakkal (Club des Sports Faraya Mzaar, 280 points) and Valentina Mema (Club des Jeunes Faraya, 280 points) completed the podium, highlighting a promising future for Lebanon’s young female skiers.

The races were held under the supervision of an international delegate and the federation’s technical committee. At the conclusion of the event, an awards ceremony brought together federation officials, parents and club presidents, celebrating the athletes’ outstanding performances.

With these results, Lebanese skiing confirms it has a pool of talented athletes capable of competing at the highest level. Now, all eyes are on the upcoming challenges for these future champions.
