A decisive 11th matchday, marked by confirmations and disappointments. Al-Ansar and Safa stay on course, while Nejmeh sinks and Al-Ahed impresses.

The 11th matchday of the Lebanese football championship brought its share of confirmations and surprises. Al-Ansar and Safa continue their charge at the top, while Nejmeh falls against a realistic Al-Bourj. At the bottom of the table, the battle for survival intensifies.

Al-Ansar Imperial

Undisputed leader, Al-Ansar did not tremble on Shabab Ghazieh’s pitch (2-0). After a tight first half, the Greens made the difference in the second half thanks to a goal from Tunisian Rafik Madini (70’) and a strike from Nader Matar (82’). With this tenth victory of the season, Al-Ansar strengthens its top spot with 31 points.

Safa Up to the task

Runner-up Safa responded with an offensive display against Shabab Baalbeck (5-0). A festival led by Khaled Takaji (38’), Hussein Haidar (42’), and Islam Al-Battran (43’, 87’ pen), before Ali Qassas sealed the victory (87’). Safa remains two points behind the leader (29 pts), while Shabab Baalbeck sinks further into the relegation zone.

Nejmeh Collapses

Big surprise in Jounieh, where Nejmeh suffered its fourth defeat of the season against Al-Bourj (0-1). A late goal from Abbas Shahin (82’) handed victory to the Yellow and Black, who climb out of last place to reach 10th position (7 pts). Nejmeh, meanwhile, remains stuck at 17 points and sees its title dream slipping away.

Al-Ahed in Demonstration Mode

The reigning champion made a statement by thrashing Shabab Al-Sahel (8-1). Mahmoud Zbib opened the scoring in the very first minute, before Ali Al-Hajj (43’ own goal), Zein Frangieh (53’), and a hat-trick from Mohammed Nasser (71’, 75’, 77’) sealed the match. Mario Oliveira added an eighth goal (88’), while Shabab Al-Sahel briefly reduced the gap through Samad Qadri (44’). Al-Ahed climbs to third place with 28 points.

La Sagesse and Tadamon Tyr Secure Their Spot

In a crucial match for the top 6, La Sagesse and Riyadi Abbassiyé ended in a goalless draw (0-0), a result enough to qualify the Greens for the final phase. Tadamon Tyr secured the same fate after a similar draw against Racing Beirut (0-0). La Sagesse (16 pts) and Tadamon Tyr (14 pts) join the top 6 for the second phase of the championship.
