Lebanese President Joseph Aoun arrived in Paris on Friday morning, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Youssef Rajji, for a brief but strategically significant visit. The trip underscores Lebanon’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen ties with France and seek international support for its security and economic challenges.

The highlight of the visit is a high-level meeting between President Aoun and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, at the Élysée Palace. Their discussions will focus on key areas of mutual interest, particularly France’s role in assisting Lebanon’s economic recovery, financial stabilization and security efforts. Given Lebanon’s pressing challenges, the meeting is expected to explore concrete measures for financial aid, investment opportunities and security cooperation.

Following their bilateral discussions, an official luncheon will be held in honor of President Aoun, attended by senior French and Lebanese officials. This diplomatic engagement serves to reaffirm the strong historical ties between the two nations and set the stage for deeper collaboration.

Later in the day, a quadrilateral meeting will convene, bringing together the presidents of France and Lebanon, the Greek Prime Minister and the President of Cyprus. This high-profile gathering aims to enhance regional coordination on security and economic matters, particularly in the Eastern Mediterranean. Additionally, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa will join the discussions via videoconference to address recent geopolitical developments, with a focus on regional security threats, border stability and broader diplomatic initiatives.

President Aoun’s visit to Paris highlights Lebanon’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships in pursuit of stability and economic recovery. The outcome of these high-level discussions is expected to shape the next steps in Lebanon’s foreign policy and regional positioning.
