The Israeli army and the Internal Security Service (Shin Bet) announced on Thursday that they had eliminated several Hamas and Islamic Jihad security officials in the Gaza Strip.

Among the targets was Rachid Jahjouh, head of Hamas' General Security Service, who had taken up his post after the elimination of his predecessor, Sami Ouda, in July 2024. Rouhi Mouchtaha, a senior Hamas official in the Gaza Strip, was also killed. Aymen Aslih, head of the Khan Younès region within the Hamas General Security Service, was also eliminated.

Hamas's General Security Service is a central, secret body responsible for monitoring opponents, protecting the movement's leaders, and gathering intelligence. It is also involved in the repression of opponents of the Hamas regime and in planning operations against Israel.

In a separate operation, Ismail Abdel Aal, a key leader of the Islamic Jihad arms smuggling network, was killed. He was involved in organizing the majority of arms transfer operations to the Gaza Strip.
