Amal and Hezbollah Oppose Mega Voting Center in Municipal Polls

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri’s Amal Movement opposes the idea of setting up a megacenter where eligible voters can cast their ballot in the municipal elections, regardless of where they hail from, particularly in the war-devastated southern region. Thanks to megacenters, residents of southern villages can vote in the areas where they live, without having to go to the villages where they are registered.

The Shiite movement, an ally of Hezbollah, proposes, instead, that residents of the devastated villages vote in neighboring towns, namely in the South, where the Shiite duo can control and monitor the electoral process, preventing the loss of their grip on municipalities.

Amal and Hezbollah accuse the opposing camp of seeking to adopt the megacenter, because it allows Shiite voters to cast their vote freely, challenging the duo’s representation amid an overwhelming Shiite resentment against their leadership.

Hezbollah is largely held fully responsible for the destruction, devastation and displacement of the people in the South due to its futile support war for Gaza, prompting Israel to assassinate the group’s leaders.

According to Western diplomatic circles, the Hebrew state will continue targeting the pro-Iranian group and its military arsenal, until it announces the surrender of its weapons to the state.
