A posthumous EP by Marianne Faithfull, Burning Moonlight, featuring four previously unreleased songs recorded in the year leading up to her passing, will be released in April. The iconic Swinging Sixties singer, known for her haunting voice and intense artistic journey, worked on this project until the very end. The EP will be available as a limited-edition vinyl on April 12, with a global digital release on June 6. The title track will be unveiled this Friday.

An EP featuring four previously unreleased songs by British singer and actress Marianne Faithfull, who passed away in late January, is set to be released in April. The title track will be unveiled this Friday, as announced by her family in a statement.

"As we mourn the loss of Marianne, we take comfort in sharing these songs she was working on during the year leading up to her passing," said her son, Nicholas Dunbar.

"Marianne lived to create and perform music—it was her driving force, and she never stopped. Until the very end, she was eagerly anticipating this release, which now completes and celebrates her remarkable artistic journey," he added.

Faithfull, a defining figure of the Swinging Sixties, was known not only for her music but also for her tumultuous relationship with Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.

The EP, Burning Moonlight, will be available as a limited-edition vinyl on April 12 and will see a global digital release on June 6. Initially scheduled for February, its announcement was delayed due to Faithfull’s passing on January 30.

"One side of the EP draws inspiration from her debut pop album, Marianne Faithfull, while the other side pays tribute to her folk roots from Come My Way," explained executive producer Andrew Batt.

The title track, set for release on Friday, is described as "a poignant ballad about resilience and grace."

"This is the right time to look back," Faithfull had said after completing the project, according to the statement. "It helps me remember everything I've done. I wouldn’t say I’m particularly nostalgic, but I cherish this moment of reflection."

Faithfull rose to fame in 1964 after being discovered by Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham.

Her debut hit, As Tears Go By, written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, was followed by a string of successes, including Come and Stay with Me, This Little Bird, and Summer Nights.

She also pursued an acting career, appearing in films such as The Girl on a Motorcycle (La Motocyclette in French) and on stage in various theater productions.

Following her breakup with Jagger in 1970, Faithfull endured hardship, struggling with heroin addiction and living in a squat.

However, she made a triumphant comeback in 1979 with the album Broken English, now considered a classic. She later reinvented herself as a jazz and blues singer, earning critical acclaim for Stranger Weather (1987).
