The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has expressed its confidence in Lebanon’s ability to form a government that represents all its citizens.
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that France has “full confidence in the ability of the Lebanese authorities to form a government representative of all Lebanese.”
Barrot also voiced support for the country’s Prime Minister-designate, Nawaf Salam, saying he "will find a way out of this deadlock."
The statement comes in response to recent remarks by Morgan Ortagus, deputy to the US special envoy for the Middle East. Speaking from the Presidential Palace in Baabda, Ortagus stressed that Hezbollah should not take part in Lebanon’s next government.
