Pope Francis sent a message to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun through the Apostolic Nuncio to Lebanon, Archbishop Paolo Borgia.
In his message, the Pope expressed his spiritual closeness to “the dear Lebanese people.” He reaffirmed his solidarity with Lebanon, emphasizing, “I pray to God to preserve the Lebanese people, this treasure of civilization and spiritual life so that they may remain a symbol of peace and harmony in diversity.”
In response, President Aoun expressed his gratitude for the Pope’s continued support for Lebanon and conveyed his hope to meet with him soon.
This exchange highlights the strong ties between Lebanon and the Vatican, particularly at a time when the country is facing multiple crises.
