How did it all start?
It all began with my profound admiration for Edith Piaf. She has always been one of my greatest artistic inspirations. Her music, resilience and incredible life story are endlessly moving – a testament to triumph over adversity that echoes through her timeless songs. I’ve long dreamed of paying tribute to her legacy. I also know that many Lebanese share my love for Piaf, and I believe her music deserves to be celebrated more often. This passion gave birth to Mon Hymne à Piaf, a heartfelt homage to her extraordinary artistry.
What should the audience expect from the upcoming concert?
The concert will take place on February 7 and 8 at 8:30 PM at the Casino du Liban, and tickets are available at Virgin Ticketing Box Office. This evening will be a celebration of Edith Piaf’s legacy through her most iconic songs. The repertoire has been carefully chosen to reflect her journey – her highs, her struggles, and the immense passion that made her an icon. I’ll be performing alongside a live orchestra of 20 musicians, conducted by the composer Danny Bou-Maroun, who has reimagined these classics with a cinematic touch, giving them a fresh and modern yet respectful perspective. What makes this concert truly special is how it goes beyond music. Produced by Cats Production and under the direction of Kristian Abouanni, we’re integrating cinematic projections, immersive lighting and rare archival footage to transport the audience into Piaf’s world. It’s an intimate and emotional journey, connecting her era to ours in a way that feels both nostalgic and relevant.
We’ve also invited the internationally acclaimed singer Mike Massy as a special guest, and there will be some surprise performances to make the evening even more magical. Through this concert, I want to honor Piaf’s timeless spirit and offer a heartfelt tribute that resonates with both those who know and love her music and those who may be discovering it for the first time.
Is there any particular genre you stick to?
I don’t see myself as confined to one genre. Being French-Lebanese, born in Tunisia, with Italian heritage, I’ve been exposed to so many rich influences that naturally flow into my music. I embrace a genre-blending style, fusing Arabic and international elements to bring two worlds together in a way that feels authentic and true to who I am. All these influences – my roots, my experiences and my passions – come together to form my own signature sound. I am all of that, and all of that is me. After the concert, I’m excited to share original songs that reflect this unique mix. They’re deeply personal and a true representation of my journey as an artist, shaped by the diverse influences that define me.
Do you think music can bring a change to the chaotic world we live in?
Absolutely. Music has always been my driving force because it has the unique power to inspire, heal and connect people. This concert is a living example of that belief. By attending, you're not just celebrating art but also making a tangible impact. A portion of the proceeds will go to the St. Porphyrios Association, a remarkable NGO operating since 2002 under the patronage of His Eminence Elias Audi, Metropolitan of the Orthodox Archdiocese of Beirut. The association provides scholarships, medical care, food, shelter for orphans and support for struggling families. Through the funds raised by this concert, they’ll be able to offer more scholarships to students in need attending the five Orthodox schools in Beirut, which serve over 4,000 children from diverse backgrounds.
Can music have a positive influence on people’s minds?
Without a doubt. Lebanon has been facing extraordinary challenges, and in these times of uncertainty, music and culture become more than just forms of entertainment – they embody our identity and resilience. I believe art has the power to uplift and bring hope, even in the face of adversity. Music is not a luxury; it’s a necessity that sustains our souls, preserves our heritage, and provides opportunities for an industry that could otherwise fade away. Through Mon Hymne à Piaf, I hope to remind people of the power of art to unite us, heal us, and inspire us to move forward together. When music and humanity thrive, so does hope.
