Iris Knobloch, president of the Cannes Film Festival since 2022, has been reelected for a second three-year term, reflecting her commitment to equality, diversity, and innovation in creative industries both in France and internationally.
The Cannes Film Festival has extended Iris Knobloch’s presidency for another three-year term, organizers announced on Wednesday.
After succeeding Pierre Lescure in 2022, Iris Knobloch was unanimously reelected for a new term that will run until June 30, 2028, according to a statement from the French Association of the International Film Festival.
Iris Knobloch, 61, a trained lawyer, built much of her career at Warner Bros., one of the leading American film studios. She oversaw its operations in France and later across a broader part of Europe before taking on the Cannes presidency.
"I am proud of the success of the past two editions, and I look forward to continuing this commitment," she said, as quoted in the statement. She also emphasized her "dedication to making the Festival a space of equality and recognition for all, with special attention to women."
The association described her as "deeply attached to European values and committed to defending cinema both in France and internationally." They added that she is "renowned for her modern vision, as well as her support for diversity and innovation in the creative industries."
The Festival has yet to reveal the composition of its jury for the 78th edition, scheduled to take place from May 13 to May 24.
