Maronite Patriarch Bechara al-Rai has called for a shift away from pessimism, expressing hope for a brighter future for Lebanon.
Speaking from the presidential palace in Baabda after his meeting with President Joseph Aoun on Wednesday, Patriarch al-Rai highlighted the president’s wishes to swiftly form an inclusive government provided that all political factions take responsibility for the nation’s recovery.
Accompanied by a delegation of bishops, al-Rai extended his congratulations to President Aoun on his oath of office, praising his speech and wishing him success in tackling Lebanon’s critical challenges.
“We aspire to embrace the beauty of hope and renewal,” Patriarch al-Rai stated, emphasizing the importance of unity.
“Together, we will rise, reflecting the vision of both the president and the prime minister-designate,” he concluded.
President Joseph Aoun also met Caretaker Defense Minister Maurice Slim and Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi to discuss the country's general situation and security issues.
