Björk is once again redefining the boundaries of music and art with her recent projects. From the release of Cornucopia: The Book to a limited-edition vinyl collaboration with Rosalía, her work combines immersive artistry and environmental advocacy. Through innovative performances and meaningful initiatives, Björk continues to captivate audiences and address critical global challenges.

Björk continues to push boundaries in art, music, and environmental advocacy with several groundbreaking initiatives this year. Her latest accomplishments include the release of Cornucopia: The Book, a meticulous documentation of her five-year Cornucopia tour. Designed by M/M Paris and featuring photography by Santiago Felipe, the book showcases the tour’s immersive digital artistry, bespoke instruments, and thought-provoking narratives.

The Cornucopia tour was a transformative experience inspired by Björk’s decade-long exploration of 360-degree sound, virtual reality, and immersive technologies. It brought together the intimacy of 19th-century theater with the innovations of 21st-century VR. Audiences were captivated by 27 moving curtains with dynamic projections, LED screens, and instruments like a magnetic harp and circular flute—all designed to enhance the emotional depth of the performance. Central to the show was a modern avatar, an alchemical marionette symbolizing a journey of healing and transformation.

The book also sheds light on the creative minds behind the tour’s visuals. Tobias Gremmler, Andrew Thomas Huang, Gabríela Friðriksdóttir & Pierre-Alain Giraud, Nick Knight, and Warren Du Preez & Nick Thornton-Jones crafted the avatars that brought the Cornucopia story to life.

In addition to the book, Björk has released a limited-edition 12-inch vinyl of her collaboration with Rosalía, featuring a remix by Ölof Dreijer from The Knife. The project transcends music. Björk, Rosalía, and their labels have pledged 100% of the profits to AEGIS, an Icelandic charity founded by Björk, which combats intensive fish farming and protects marine ecosystems. This initiative reflects her enduring commitment to environmental activism.

Expanding her artistic contributions, Björk recently created Nature Manifesto 2024, an immersive sound installation at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Created with Aleph and positioned along the La Chenille escalators, the installation invites audiences on an audial journey that explores biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse. Produced using IRCAM’s advanced acoustic technologies and AI-driven models, this post-optimistic manifesto underscores Björk’s dedication to addressing critical environmental challenges through innovative artistic mediums.

From pioneering stage designs to ocean preservation efforts, Björk’s recent ventures underscore her role as a leader in art and advocacy. Her work inspires audiences to engage more deeply with the world’s pressing issues.
