More than 20 intimate nude drawings by Yves Saint Laurent, alongside rare photographs and personal art collections, will be auctioned during Paris Men’s Fashion Week from January 21 to January 30 at Sotheby’s Paris.

More than 20 drawings of nudes by French fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent will be auctioned this month at Sotheby’s in Paris. Other artworks collected by Saint Laurent, who passed away in 2008, and his partner Pierre Bergé, who died in 2017, will also be part of the sale.

The auction, titled Yves Saint Laurent – Pierre Bergé: an intimate collection, will take place from January 21 to January 30 during Paris Men’s Fashion Week. Sotheby’s described the drawings as "combining precise anatomical details and lascivious poetry," offering an unprecedented glimpse into the personal world of Saint Laurent.

Yves Saint Laurent, celebrated as one of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th century, was known for redefining women’s fashion with his innovative and daring designs. From introducing the iconic tuxedo suit for women to popularizing ready-to-wear collections, Saint Laurent revolutionized the fashion industry. His love for art and culture greatly influenced his creations, and his personal sketches and art collections reveal a lesser-known, deeply personal side of the designer.

"This is the first time such a collection has been put up for auction," said Florent Jeanniard, Sotheby’s France vice president. All the drawings have been certified by the Yves Saint Laurent – Authentification committee, which ensures the authenticity of the designer’s personal artworks, Jeanniard explained.

In addition to the nude drawings, the sale will feature iconic photographs by Andy Warhol, Helmut Newton, Alice Springs, and Martine Barrat. Several Polaroids by Warhol, including one of Pierre Bergé, are among the highlights of the sale.

All the artworks will be displayed at Sotheby’s Paris office for the duration of the online auction. This auction offers a rare glimpse into Yves Saint Laurent's intimate artistic world and celebrates his enduring legacy as a visionary designer and art collector.
