Rafic Eid, the Lebanese motorcyclist, is preparing to take on one of the biggest challenges of his career by participating in the 2025 Dakar Rally.

The countdown for the 2025 Dakar Rally has begun, and the engines are already roaring in Saudi Arabia. From January 3 to 17, this legendary rally, known for its extreme challenges, will see renowned drivers compete over 7706 km of dunes, sand and relentless deserts. Rafic Eid, the Lebanese motorcyclist, is part of this elite group who dreams of conquering the most prestigious off-road rally.

“The Dakar Rally is more than a race, it’s the ultimate challenge for any rider,” says Rafic Eid, with the determination of a champion. “It’s the chance to push my limits and represent Lebanon on the global stage.”

Flawless Preparation

After securing second place in the Baja World Cup (the World Off-Road Rally Championship), and delivering an outstanding performance at the Dubai International Rally, Rafic Eid has proven that he has both the mental strength and the technical skills to compete with the best. He ended the 2024 season on a high note and won the veterans' category in Dubai, adding another important victory to his already impressive track record.

“These results have given me tremendous confidence. Every competition, every kilometer I’ve ridden has allowed me to improve, and I feel ready to give it my all at Dakar,” Eid explains.

A Race That Demands the Best

The Dakar Rally is not just a test of endurance, but also of strategy. With 12 special stages and one demonstration stage, the 7706 km route will be a true playground for the most experienced. Rafic Eid, participating with a 55-horsepower Yamaha Fantic 450 Rally, will have his work cut out for him as he competes against other desert specialists.

“This bike is a monster. After several tests in Italy, I feel comfortable on it. Now, it’s just about attacking!” he says with a determined smile.

The Mindset of a Champion

The pressure will be immense. On such a challenging course, each rider will need to manage the heat, unforeseen obstacles and fatigue. However, Rafic Eid remains undeterred. “Every race is a battle, and I’ve prepared for this. The goal is to fight for the top spots, stay focused and never give up.”

His goal is to aim for the podium and raise the Lebanese flag atop the off-road rally world. “I’ve experienced some incredible moments in this championship, but the Dakar is the ultimate test. This is where it all counts.”

A Perfect Season in 2024

This year, Rafic Eid has known great success. He finished the Baja season at the top of the veterans' standings, a remarkable achievement that confirms his rapid progress. With 115 points, he almost dethroned Portuguese champion Pedro Barata, who finished with 136 points. Given these results, Eid has one thing on his mind: “To win and give my best to proudly represent my country.”

Other riders, like Polish Sławomir Ścibien or Belgian Adão Rafael Teixeira Marques, will also have high ambitions. But Rafic Eid is not intimidated. “I know there are formidable opponents, but that’s what motivates me. The competition pushes me to exceed my limits,” he confides.

A Colossal Challenge

The Dakar Rally is not a race for the faint-hearted. Each stage tests the competitors’ endurance, resilience and ability to face the unexpected. Rafic Eid is well aware of this, and it is precisely what makes him a serious contender for victory.

With just 48 hours until the start, his goal is well-defined: represent Lebanon and give everything to secure a place among the best. “The Dakar Rally is a human, physical and mental adventure. This is where you reveal yourself as a rider, and I’m ready to take on this challenge,” he concludes with unwavering determination.

A Look Towards the Future

Rafic Eid's career is just beginning, and with the ambition that drives him, it’s clear that the 2025 Dakar Rally could mark a pivotal turning point in his journey. “It’s a childhood dream, and I’m more determined than ever to make Lebanon shine in the desert.”

As this great challenge approaches, the eyes of the world will be on him. And, with such determination, Rafic Eid could very well write a new chapter in the history of Lebanese motorsport.
