The Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces (ISF) has issued a statement denying rumors circulating on certain social networks, claiming that the old printing of the hundred-dollar bill is still in circulation in the country. According to these rumors, the distribution of these bills has been suspended worldwide.
However, the ISF said it had investigated the matter, assuring that no circular had been issued by the US Federal Reserve (FED) concerning the withdrawal of the old bill from circulation. It is still valid and in normal use in Lebanese banks. The text also states that the moneychangers' union has confirmed the old hundred-dollar bill remains in normal circulation with them.
The ISF said it wanted to make this clarification “to avoid any confusion on the Lebanese market and to ensure that citizens are not exploited by selling the old 100-dollar bill at a price lower than its real value.”
