Sana Richa Choucair’s Chicken in Cream Sauce
Ingredients:
• 1 chicken (suggested seasoning: salt, pepper, cinnamon, bay leaf, 1 onion)
• Powdered milk
• Cornstarch
• Mushrooms (fresh or canned)
• 2 glasses of rice
• Mixed vegetables (frozen or canned)
Preparation:
The Chicken
1. Boil the chicken with your choice of seasoning.
2. Remove the chicken and debone it.
The Sauce (made with chicken broth)
3. For 4 glasses of broth, add 1 glass of powdered milk diluted in water and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Whisk together.
4. Cook over low heat, keep stirring until the mixture thickens.
5. Optional: Add a pinch of ground nutmeg at the end.
6. Stir the chicken pieces and mushrooms into the sauce.
The Vegetable Rice
7. Mix the washed rice with the vegetables. For every 1 glass of rice, add 2 glasses of water. Add salt, oil or butter to taste!
8. Once boiling, lower the heat. Turn off the heat when the water has completely evaporated from the bottom of the pot.
