The Boghossian Foundation in Lebanon rewards young Lebanese talents in visual arts, cinema and children's literature at the 12th edition of its awards.
The Boghossian Foundation in Lebanon, led by Mary Boghossian Salame, has announced the winners of the 12th edition of its awards, honoring young Lebanese talents in visual arts, cinema and children's literature. The ceremony took place on the morning of November 28, 2024, at the Foundation's offices in Beirut, in the presence of jury members and numerous guests.
After rigorous deliberations, the jury members, comprising Lebanese and international experts, selected the winners, highlighting the exceptional quality and creativity of the submitted works, which made their decision particularly challenging. The winners are as follows:
In Visual Arts : Petram Chalach and Hussein Nasserdine each received a $3,000 prize. Both winners, along with Monya Riachi, were also awarded an artist residency at Villa Empain.
In Cinema: The “Coup de Cœur” Prize, awarded in association with the Fondation Liban Cinéma, went to Joseph Khallouf, who received $10,000 for his film Letters.
In Children's Literature: The prize, in collaboration with the Assabil organization, was awarded to Jana Slaika and Basma Khatib, who each received $1,500 for their manuscripts.
The jury members were composed as follows:
- Cinema Coup de Cœur Jury : Jean-Claude Codsi (filmmaker and director), May Coussa (cinema professor), Gabriel Chamoun (film producer).
- Visual Arts Jury: Joseph Rustom (Director of the Oriental Library of the Society of Jesus, associate professor at ESAR and former professor at ALBA), Charbel Samuel Aoun (renowned multidisciplinary artist).
- Children’s Literature Jury: Georgia Makhlouf (author), Najla Khoury (specialist in oral Arabic heritage in Lebanese villages), Suzanne Abou Ghaida (writer and researcher in Arabic language).
These awards reflect the Boghossian Foundation's unwavering commitment to supporting emerging artists, providing them with unique opportunities for international recognition and promoting Lebanese cultural diversity.
