3. Missing Persons and Enforced Disappearances: Ziad Achour Stresses the Need for Coordination

The Vice-President of the National Commission for the Missing and Disappeared, Ziad Achour, said he had ‘taken the initiative of sending a letter to the caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, calling on him to form an emergency government committee comprising the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministries of the Interior, Foreign Affairs, Defense, Social Affairs, Health and the Public Prosecutor's Office, so that the National Commission can carry out its role of coordinator between these parties.

Mr Achour was speaking to This is Beirut at the end of a press conference given by the National Commission for the Missing and Disappeared, dedicated to the mechanism to be followed in the coming stage to shed light on the fate of these people.
