Israeli airstrikes targeted military installations in Syria, belonging to the army of the former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, an NGO said on Wednesday. Among the "military sites" targeted were "the port of Latakia" and warehouses in Tartous.

"Israeli fighter jets continue to destroy what remains of Syria's military arsenal, for the fourth consecutive day since the fall of the former regime," stated the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), an NGO based on a wide network of sources across Syria.

Since the rebels seized Damascus on Sunday and the fall of President Bashar al-Assad, Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes in Syria, according to the SOHR.

The same source also reported that Israel has gained control of an additional 300 square kilometers of the Golan Heights.
