The Gaza Civil Defense reported that 33 people, including several children, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Wednesday night, shortly after the United Nations General Assembly called for an immediate ceasefire in the war-torn Palestinian territory.
Israeli warplanes targeted two houses near the Nuseirat refugee camp (central Gaza) and in Gaza City (north), according to Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal.
"Fifteen bodies, including at least six children, and over 17 injured individuals were found after the Israeli bombing of a building sheltering displaced people near Nuseirat," Bassal told AFP.
The bodies of six others killed in an airstrike on an apartment in Gaza City were transported to the hospital, alongside numerous injured, he added.
Between Tuesday and Wednesday night, at least 22 people, including women and children, were killed in another Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza, according to the territory’s Civil Defense.
Aid Trucks
The Gaza Civil Defense also reported that 12 security agents responsible for protecting aid trucks in the war-ravaged territory were killed Thursday morning in Israeli strikes.
Seven security officers were killed in an attack in Rafah, and five more in Khan Yunis, two cities in southern Gaza, spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal told AFP. The Israeli military had not immediately responded to AFP's request for comment.
"The occupation has once again targeted those ensuring the security of aid trucks," said Bassal, adding that around 30 people, mostly children, were injured.
"The trucks carrying flour were en route to UNRWA warehouses," the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, he continued.
