The Royal Mint has released commemorative £5 coins honoring Paul McCartney. They celebrate his legendary career with The Beatles, Wings, and as a solo artist. The designs feature his iconic instruments and milestones from his remarkable musical journey.

The Royal Mint has launched a new collection of £5 coins celebrating Paul McCartney’s exceptional career, highlighting his legacy with The Beatles, Wings, and his solo work. This marks the first time McCartney has been featured on an official UK coin.

“It’s a tremendous honor,” McCartney stated, reflecting on his collaboration with the Royal Mint for the coin's design. The 82-year-old music icon played an active role throughout the creative process.

The coins, available in silver and color editions, take inspiration from McCartney’s vibrant “magic piano” from his Beatles era. The designs also feature his Höfner bass guitar and the Wings logo, marking milestones from his post-Beatles journey.

“I never dreamed of anything like this as a child,” McCartney admitted, marveling at the tribute.

Rebecca Morgan, head of commemorative coins at the Royal Mint, remarked, “This collection honors British icons and historic moments. Paul McCartney’s incredible musical achievements make him a natural choice for such recognition.”

The limited-edition coins can be purchased through the Royal Mint’s website, with prices starting at £15.50 (€19). Additionally, a unique five-kilogram gold coin signed by McCartney will be auctioned in early 2025, following over 250 hours of meticulous crafting.

As part of his global Got Back tour, McCartney is set to perform in Manchester and London this December, continuing his legacy as one of music’s most enduring stars. The Royal Mint has also presented him with a gold guitar pick, a nod to his early days of using pennies as plectrums.

After decades of shaping the music industry, Paul McCartney remains a global icon and a symbol of creative excellence. From his groundbreaking work with The Beatles to his enduring solo projects, his influence transcends generations. McCartney continues to inspire millions, blending innovation with timeless artistry, ensuring his legacy lives on both on stage and now in history with these commemorative coins.
